Emmett "Rock" O'Berry, 84, of Gasburg, VA died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center in Emporia, VA.

Mr. O達erry was the son of the late William Thomas O達erry, Sr. and Della Lenwood Lynch O達erry. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from White Motors after 28 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary L. Wright; and a brother, William Thomas O達erry, Jr.

Mr. O達erry is survived by his wife, Pearl Marshall O達erry; a daughter, Marie O達erry Gaylor of Gasburg; a son, Wilson Doyle "Butch" Reid of Roanoke Rapids; one granddaughter, Lisa S. Moore Bottoms of Gasburg; two grandsons, Jason A. Gaylor of Gasburg and Brandon L. Gaylor of Roanoke Rapids; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla M. Woodall, Adam P. Clary, Brittany D. Clary, all of Gasburg, and Brandice L. Gaylor of Roanoke Rapids.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2008 with Minister Randy Martin officiating.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. O達erry痴 service to his country.
